Cleaning Cartomizers

posted Jan 22, 2012 15:34:19 by TempleNoble
So I have brand new cartomizers and I need to clean them. I have looked on the forums and you tube and there are five different ways and then someone says that they are wrong. How do you clean them? I want to know what works for the people on this forum.

What type of cartomizers are we talking about. For now I'm using V2 blanks cartos. Whenever I fill a brand new one with a flavor that isnt so good, I do a reverse taryn spin to get the excess juice out. Then I rinse them with warm water and then rinse them out with some Everclear. Do the reverse spin to get excess water out. I usually leave them out to dry for a few days or I will put them in the toaster oven set on 'warm'. Be sure not to forget about them! I was too nervous to try boiling them and the above method did work, slightly labor intensive. Anyhow it worked for my 808 cartomizers.

Thank you Gina, I have the same cartomizers V2 and V4L. So I am going to use warm water and vodka as I don't have any Everclear. I did not realize they would take so long to air dry. Thanks for the advice!

Well I hope you had the success that I did. Someone told me about that method after I posted that I was going to try boiling them. Glad I didn't boil them! I only got about three more fills out of them but it was worth not throwing them away.

Here is my next dumb question. Do I have to clean them if I just keep filling them with the same juice? I mean is there some sort of buildup that I need to clean out once in a while?

No don't clean them if you are using the same juice. I have found my cartos decline after about 6 fills & to me I got my money's worth. Yes gunk can build up and I've found myself staying with clearer eliquid. The dark juices tend to limit the life of my cartos-at least that's been my experience. Keep in mind I've only been vaping since October and I'm still learning as I go.

Gina, are all cartomizers pretty much the same? I have some used up vivid vanilla blu cartomizers. I am wondering if I cleaned them, like how you described in your previous posts, if I could get a little bit more life out of them. I just got a bunch of samples to try, but like the dummy I am, I forgot to get extra blank cartos! Thanks for any info or suggestions!

For the Blu cartomizers I don't know. When I using Blu I threw all my spent ones in the trash. That was when I was still new to the vaping world! For me personally I like the V2 blank cartomizers best, I just wish they offered a cheaper shipping option-they are very high on shipping.

Some swear the cleaning bring the carto to brand spanking new...Not in my opinion, but you can get a few more fills out of them for sure...In case you don't get paid one day it's a good thing to have the option to use a cleaned carto. :) Oh and I use vodka in a bowl... soak for a while then stick a turkey baster in the maouth end with cap off and suck vodka in through the carto and push the vodka back out to flush. Then blow rest out of the tube and hang somewhere warm for a few. Imma trying the spin now Ty Gina.
